Summary

The magical world teeters on the brink of collapse。 The Dragon King, Celebrant, has united the dragons into a vengeful army, and only a final artifact stands in the way of them unleashing their fury against humankind。 With established allegiances shifting under the strain, Seth and Kendra find themselves in desperate need of new allies。

Seth must face his most dangerous quest—the fulfillment of his pledge to the Singing Sisters。 With only Calvin the Tiny Hero at his side, Seth needs to collect the pieces of the Ethergem, including the stones from the crowns of the Dragon King, the Giant Queen, and the Demon King。

Halfway across the world, Kendra finds herself torn between her duty to Dragonwatch and her desire to rescue Bracken。 Can she challenge Ronodin’s control of the fairy realm without leaving the five legendary dragon slayers to be hunted by Celebrant and his sons?

Left behind at Titan Valley, Knox and Tess must survive the aftermath of the Giant Queen’s fall。 Will the secret crown in Knox’s possession prove too much for him to handle?

In this fifth and final volume of Dragonwatch, our heroes make their last stand at the hidden Kingdom of Selona。 For the defenders of light to stand a chance, the legendary dragon slayers must arise, lost secrets must be uncovered, and ancient powers must awaken。 Get ready for the gripping, revelatory, and unforeseen conclusion to the epic ten-volume New York Times best-selling Fablehaven and Dragonwatch series。

If you're considering reading this book, I think it's safe to assume that you have previously read the Fablehaven series and the rest of the Dragonwatch series。 If not, go read those before you read this book! Seriously, you'll be lost without reading the others。 This one starts with the world on the brink of collapse as the dragon sanctuaries have fallen and the dragons are beating the giants。 Seth's memories have finally been restored and he is struggling with his past actions。 The Fairy realm If you're considering reading this book, I think it's safe to assume that you have previously read the Fablehaven series and the rest of the Dragonwatch series。 If not, go read those before you read this book! Seriously, you'll be lost without reading the others。 This one starts with the world on the brink of collapse as the dragon sanctuaries have fallen and the dragons are beating the giants。 Seth's memories have finally been restored and he is struggling with his past actions。 The Fairy realm has been taken over by Ronodin and chaos reigns everywhere。 I enjoyed watching Seth struggle with the good and bad inside of him - that's something we can all relate to! There are a few scenes where Kendra struggles with hard choices where something that seems evil might be the thing that results in the best good for the most beings, but they seemed rushed to me。 I didn't feel her conflict like I did Seth's。The secondary characters I came to love in the original Fablehaven series (Tanu, Warren, Vanessa, Hugo, etc。) play almost no role in this book and I missed them。 But the plot was realistic (for a fantasy) and in line with the world/characters Mull has developed over the last nine books。 Ultimately, I found the story to be a satisfying ending to the series and I recommend it to fans with the caveat that this book (and the whole Dragonwatch series) definitely skews more YA than middle grade。 The kids are older, the situations are trickier, and the books are just a little darker。 Overall, a little rushed to wind everything up in just one book (at 627 pages, it could easily have been split into two books), but a good read。Disclaimer: I received a free electronic copy from the publisher through Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more

I've been a huge fan of Fablehaven since the very first book, and this one was almost a DNF for me。 It was so violent。 So much slaughter and blood。 I was also very troubled by the whole dichotomy of dark and light。 Everything dark was evil and everything light was good and it just really grated on me。 (view spoiler)[I also didn't like the thinly veiled saving by baptism at the end。 (hide spoiler)] This wasn't the end of series book that I had been hoping for。 For super fans only, grades 6 & up。e I've been a huge fan of Fablehaven since the very first book, and this one was almost a DNF for me。 It was so violent。 So much slaughter and blood。 I was also very troubled by the whole dichotomy of dark and light。 Everything dark was evil and everything light was good and it just really grated on me。 (view spoiler)[I also didn't like the thinly veiled saving by baptism at the end。 (hide spoiler)] This wasn't the end of series book that I had been hoping for。 For super fans only, grades 6 & up。eARC provided by publisher via Edelweiss 。。。more

Pre-Read Review:Okay, first off, the trailer for this book is hilarious:Part 1: Ronodin meets with Celebrant and Muriel for a council meeting of "evil states the obvious"Part 2: Where we see Mull's writing in progress, as encouraged by his publisherPart 3: still waiting on this one。 Pre-Read Review:Okay, first off, the trailer for this book is hilarious:Part 1: Ronodin meets with Celebrant and Muriel for a council meeting of "evil states the obvious"Part 2: Where we see Mull's writing in progress, as encouraged by his publisherPart 3: still waiting on this one。 。。。more
